CNA Classes: Indiana

Indiana is a great place to start work as a Certified Nursing Assistant because of the increasing number of new jobs being created each year. At nursing homes across the state, new vacancies are opening up for qualified healthcare professionals and nurse aides. If you are looking for a new job in a reliable and rewarding field, healthcare is the place to be. Becoming a nurse aide is one of the fastest ways to tap into a career field that is sure to stick around and offers better pay than most entry-level jobs.

Qualifications

The primary qualification required to become a certified nursing assistant are a high school diploma or GED. Beyond this, candidates must have a clean criminal background and pass a certification test after completing a state-approved training course. In Indiana, you must complete at least 75 hours of training, including clinical experience at a nursing home or hospital or medical laboratory. Every training program that is approved by the state will provide these necessary experiences to their students. Once you’ve finished training, the next step is passing the certification test. There are two parts: a multiple-choice written test and a short practical test on the skills you will need to know for your job. You have one year to challenge the test after finishing training, so there is plenty of time to prepare and practice for your exam. Also, applicants are given three attempts to pass the test before they are required to retake a training program.
